How Your Gifts are Spent:
As of August 31, 2008 combined functional expenses of $8,038,865 were allocated to:

Direct Services and Public Health Education = 80%
Management & General Expenses = 9%
Fundraising = 11%

In FY 2008 we --

  •  Opened doors to new 21st Century Easter Seals’ Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center, initiating a new era in disability services.
  • Cornerstone time capsule laid by Bill Smith at Easter Seals’ Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Inter-Generational Center as he did as a child in 1959 at the Easter Seals Child Development Center in Washington, DC 
  • Invigorated intergenerational programming at our existing centers and in the communities we serve, building benefits that will be possible every day at the Inter-Generational Center.
  • Opened seven Senior + (Plus) Centers in Fairfax Count serving 343 seniors.
  • Completed plans to provide respite care for Navy families with children with disabilities.
  • Expanded our Washington, DC Child Development Center through renovation to increase capacity from 80 to 96 children for ages 0-3 years old.  
  • Received National Association for the Education of Young Children Accreditation renewals for our Child Development Centers.
  • Opened first Assistive Technology Satellite Coalition in the Inter-Generational Center serving the national capital area in partnership with the Maryland Department of Rehabilitation Services.  
  • Expanded respite services, the most requested service for caregivers with children with autism and other special needs, to include in-home, community and center-based programs.
  • President of Easter Seals nominated for Acacia Federal Annual Nice Guys Award. Lisa was nominated for her professional and personal hard work and high standards in making the Washington, DC, area a better place to live and work.
  • Easter Seals was named Semi-Finalist for 2008 National Capital Business Ethics Awards in recognition for the highest standards of business excellence, civic and social responsibility, integrity and ethical conduct.
