What are Family Caregiver Support Resources?
Easter Seals believes that serving people with
disabilities cannot be fully achieved without
supporting their family caregivers. Family
caregivers, not social service agencies, nursing
homes, or government programs are the
mainstay underpinning long-term care for older
persons and people with disabilities in the United States.



Family Caregiver Resource Center
According to recent studies, one in four adults act as a caregiver to a child or parent with a disability,
disease or special need.

The Family Caregiver Resource Center located at The Harry and Jeanette weinberg Inter-Generational Center
offers a wide variety of information and resources including internet access, books, brochures and more.

The Center will be staffed with trained personnel to guide visitors to the resources best suited for their
particular needs.

Community and Workplace Caregiver Education
Businesses lose $34 billion annually in productivity due to employee’s need to care for loved ones.
In fact, 62% of family caregivers have had to make some adjustment to their work life, from reporting late
to work, to giving up work entirely.

Community education programs are held at the center and throughout the region. The Caregiver Education
Series is offered in the workplace for working caregivers designed to meet the needs of both the employer and
the employee.   Caregiver support groups serve as an avenue for caregivers to receive mutual support, reduce
stress and gain insight by talking with other caregivers.
