What is Assistive Technology (AT) ?
Assistive Technology is any item, piece of equipment or product that is used to maintain or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities.  AT equipment can range from simple hardware and devices such as magnifying glasses, bath chairs and grab bars (referred to as “low-tech”) to complex, computerized solutions (referred to as “high tech”) such as custom seating, computerized communication devices or adaptive computer access (reading-aide
software).

Will Assistive Technology Help You?
Ever wonder how you will get around your home once your mobility is limited? Or how your parents will be able to use their everyday appliances as they age? Easter Seals' new Intergenerational Center will include a state-of-the-art Assistive Technology Center, which will be available for the community to view demonstrations of how assistive technology can help you with these daily activities.

Who Provides AT services?
Evaluations and training will be performed by therapists and AT
specialists on-site, in-home or at other community locations to help
remove barriers to safety and independence.

People with disabilities of all ages, birth to seniors, as well as family caregivers will benefit. Assistive Technology offers solutions for improving communication, mobility and independence at home, school and in the workplace.
